Therapy

Sex therapy is a specialized type of psychotherapy — a general term for treating mental health problems by talking with a mental health professional. Through sex therapy, you can address concerns about sexual function, sexual feelings and intimacy, either in individual therapy or couples or family therapy.

What does a sex therapist do?

Sex therapy is a form of counseling intended to help individuals and couples resolve sexual difficulties, such as performance anxiety or relationship problems. Clients generally meet in the therapist's office. Some choose to attend sessions alone; others bring their partner with them.

How much does a sexologist cost?

Most sex therapists see individual clients for 45-60 minute sessions at rates between $120-$180 and relationships/couples for 75-90 minute sessions at rates between $190-$310. These rates may vary widely based on the availability of certified sex therapists in your area and on general mental health costs in your state

Why do men lose interest in sex?

The degree of this decline varies. But most men maintain at least some amount of sexual interest into their 60s and 70s. But sometimes loss of sex drive is related to an underlying condition. Depression, stress, alcoholism, illicit drug use and fatigue often can be factors in loss of sex drive in men.

What is a sex positive person?

Sex positivity is about having lots of sex. – The core of sex positivity is the idea of informed consent and agency within one's own sexuality. For some people this means having lots of sex. For other people it might mean abstaining. Sex positivity aims to remove stigma and shame from all sexual choices.
